Infographic Valentines for American Heart Month

Valentine's Day Card

Ah, February… the month home to Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year. A day celebrated with filled chocolates, teddy bears, love notes and heart-shaped candies. February is also American Heart Month, which goes hand-in-hand with such a heart-centric holiday. The goal of American Heart Month is to raise awareness for the prevention of heart disease, the #1 killer of men and women.

Heart disease can refer to several different heart conditions, including heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest. Heart attacks occur when there is a blockage of one or more arteries of the heart, and a sudden cardiac arrest is the result of an electrical glitch of the system to the heart, causing irregular heart beats. While heart attacks occur more commonly in older patients, a sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, and often, with little warning.

So, while these infographic valentines may be not be the most romantic of cards, share them to help spread the importance of heart health during the month of love. To share a valentine, click on the title of the infographic, and it will open in a new window, with social share options.

Learn How to Help Someone in Cardiac Arrest with an AED

CPR and AEDs are two emergency treatments for someone who needs resuscitation. CPR is a very effective method for increasing the chance of survival for both heart attacks and sudden cardiac arrest. AEDs are especially useful for treating sudden cardiac arrest because they help restore a regular heart beat. Even better, AEDs are easy to use – people with no training have saved lives.
